Obituary

SPIVEY, Helen Sophie - 1920 - 2019 - Passed away peacefully at home on March 19, with her family at her side. Predeceased by her loving husband of 72 years, Evering (Biggie) in 2012. Survived by her daughter Letitia Anzick (Anthony), Chambersburg, PA; granddaughter Pamela Beveridge (Dirk), Chambersburg, PA, grandson Michael Anzick (Evelyne), Frederick, MD; great grandchildren: Sarah Beveridge, Mark Beveridge, Kaylee Anzick, Susanah Anzick, Jonathan Anzick, and James Anzick; sister-in-law Shirley Doty, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Washington, DC and raised in Baltimore City, MD, Helen worked at Bethlehem Steel for nearly 20 years before retiring. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, whose greatest passions were helping her family, enjoying life playing cards (Uno and Pitch), cooking seafood (crab cakes and rockfish) freshly caught from Back River in Edgemere, MD, and displaying sweet-smelling roses cut from her yard.

She leaves us rich in memories, smiles, and joy.
Memorial Donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society, C/o Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201

Beloved "Helen" my former cleaning client and friend, who called me for cleaning help for her beloved husband, "Biggie". It all started there at her house, once a month, I looked forward to her baking biscuit sandwiches for lunch; there was never any refusal of lunch, by her enjoyment at cooking for me. As she explained, "This is the last thing I can do for myself!" She cared deeply in most highest sense for her husband and family, quite evident in her lunch conversations, and the return of love her family had for her. She was the rock of strength for her Biggie, in helping him to pass on, and a conversation of memories of good times with her husband. And then, life as it does, brought forth change, till Helen could no longer do for herself, and came to live with her grand-daughter and her family. I visited her, but I could see from my last visit how she was getting tired easily. I was sorry to hear your strength wore out dear girl. I will miss such a kind, beautiful, loving lady from my life. Rest in Peace and my deepest sympathy and condolences to the family.
