Mrs. Arlene Merle Wiseth

Mrs. Arlene Shapiro Wiseth, age 79, of Chambersburg, passed away suddenly of natural causes on December 11, 2020 at the Chambersburg Pa. Hospital. Born October 13, 1941, in Elkton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles J. Shapiro and Reveira (Bloom) Shapiro of Chambersburg. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert N. Wiseth whom she married in 1982, and one son, Marc H. Axelbaum and wife Katherine Dowling and their three children, Charlie, Cameron and Phoebe all of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by her brother Ethan (Jane) and nephew Jonas, all of Chicago, IL. A 1959 graduate of Penn Hall Preparatory School, where she participated in a number of music and artistic activities. Arlene earned a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Brandies University in 1963, a M.A. in Library Science from Lesley University in 1967 and a M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Maryland. Arlene retired as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor at The Jewish Federation of Montgomery County, Md. Previous to that she worked as a librarian in several school systems. Arlene was a lifelong folk dancer who met her husband 40 years ago at a dance event and they participated as a couple or in groups for most of their marriage even having a folk-dance theme for their wedding. A private burial will be held with a memorial service announced at a later date.
