Charles L. Snider

Charles L. "Charlie" Snider, 93, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sat., Jan. 24, 2015 at Chambersburg hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on Nov. 15, 1921 in Lancaster, Ohio, the son of the late Walter and Nellie (Arick) Snider. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Greenvillage and was employed by T.B. Woods as Machinist for 38 years, retiring on Feb 1, 1984. Charlie served in WWII, stationed, North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany, discharged on Oct. 18, 1945. He was awarded Good conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal W/5 Bronze Stars. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but all paled to his avid love of squirrel hunting. Charlie loved his family and especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rosalie (Michaels) Snider, whom he married on Dec. 8, 1945; three daughters: Jean (Barry) Runshaw, Donna (Wayne) Sergent, Nancy Humphrey; five grandchildren: Michael Runshaw (Amy Martin), Steven Runshaw, James (Danelle) Sergent, Melissa (Michael) Brown, William (Danielle) Humphrey, three great grandchildren: Jaden and Hannah Sergent, Levi Brown; three siblings: Mary McManis, Flora Belle Schneider and Kenneth Snider. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Snider, sisters: Helen Dillon, Martha Ashmore and brother, Paul Snider. Arrangements are by the W.F. Sellers Funeral Home. The Funeral will be private with the Rev. Ruth Smith officiating. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery with Military honors provided by the Charles Nitterhouse Post #1599 V.F.W. Honor Guard.
