Dwight Ellis Wratchford

Dwight Ellis Wratchford of Menno Haven, Chambersburg passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the age of 91. Dwight was preceded in death by his loving wife Grace Barbara of 45 years. He leaves behind a son Ryan Wratchford, his wife Paige, and grandchildren Willow and Maxwell Wratchford who loved their father and grandpa very much. Dwight was the brother of Bonnie Ellis of Baltimore MD. He was predeceased by his parents James and Retha (Veach) Wratchford of Old Fields WV, sisters Hazel Wratchford, Betty Wratchford and Polly Smith, and brothers Herman "Jake" Wratchford, James Roosevelt Wratchford, and Reuben Wratchford. Growing up in Old Fields WV during the years of the depression, Dwight graduated Moorefield High School at age 15. He attended Shepherd College, Bridgewater College, and West Virginia University obtaining dual degrees in Biology and English. After serving in the army in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War, he returned home to help out on his beloved family farm. He worked in the Soil Conservation Service and US Postal Service in Martinsburg WV, eventually retiring to once again enjoy the outdoors full time. He enjoyed planting trees, hiking, flower and vegetable gardening, and reading God's word. His most notable quote was: "Try to do all for the glory of God, good of mankind and strengthening of our delicate environment." Dwight very much enjoyed nature and experiencing God's creation. He strove to live simply and show gentle love to all he met. A memorial service took place at Menno Haven Brookview Chapel, Chambersburg PA. He will be placed to rest at Bethel Cemetery in Old Fields WV at a future date. Online condolences at sellersfuneralhome.com.
