    Mrs. Estalene Ruth Bottenfield Powell

    March 28, 1931 - December 16, 2021

    Estalene Ruth Powell, 90 years old, Kearneysville, WV, passed away Dec. 16, 2021 in Charlottesville, VA with her husband by her side. She was born March 28, 1931 in Crystal Spring, PA to Chester H. Bottenfield and Edith Clark Bottenfield. She was a graduate of Warfordsburg High School and Thompson College in Harrisburg, PA Mrs. Powell married Lloyd H. Powell on August 16, 1952 at Mays Chapel in Warfordsburg, PA. She worked at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg and during her husband‘s service in the Air Force, Estalene worked for Edwards Air Force Base in California. After having children, she worked as the Church Secretary for Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Mrs. Powell was an incredible seamstress, quilter, knitter and an avid gardener and was active in the United Methodist Women until her later years. She is survived by her husband of 69 years and two daughters, Gloria Schultz of Lynchburg, VA and Sharon Moxley of Leesburg, VA; six grandchildren Kristina Greenberg (Andrew) of Charlottesville, VA, Chad Lickey (Laurie) of Spokane, WA, Chandler Schultz (Elizabeth) of Waialua, HI, Rose Stein (Kris) of Charlottesville, VA, Bryce Moxley of Vacaville, CA, and Trevor Moxley of Leesburg, VA; two step grandsons Brennen Kitterman (Kristin) of Spokane, WA and Cole Turner of Copenhagen, Denmark. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren Aaron and Evan Greenberg, Paityn Lickey, Theo and Taya McCaffrey-Schultz, and Joseph, Charlotte, and Lily Stein; one step great granddaughter Brinley Kitterman; one sister Emma Gingrich; and one brother Lee Bottenfield. Besides her parents, Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by two sisters, Reva Smith and Delores Blubaugh; and a brother, Richard Bottenfield. The family will receive friends at the William F. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, on Wednesday, December 29, beginning at 12:00 PM, until the funeral service begins at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Rev. John H. Kratz will officate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Those desiring may offer condolences to the family at www.sellersfuneralhome.com
