    Frances Parmer (Blubaugh)

    December 31, 1922 - August 31, 2013

    Frances Ruth Parmer, of 867 Broad Street, Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday morning, August 31, 2013, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 31, 1922, in Washington Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Shefford Blubaugh and Minnie Savilla (Utz) Blubaugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel Parmer, on November 26, 1975. During her late teens and early twenties, she worked for the Harbaugh Dairy in Waynesboro, PA, and the Waynesboro Knitting Mill. She also sang on the radio with her late sister, Esther Irene Blubaugh, during the 1930’s. She loved singing, listening to music, reading Whittier poetry, caring for children and animals, writing poetry, and driving on local country and mountain roads. Her favorite drive was on the Old Forge Road in the Michaux State Forest. She leaves behind three loving children: Robert L. Parmer of St. Thomas, PA; John D. Parmer and his wife Victoria J. (Cluck) Parmer of Chambersburg, PA; and Mary R. (Parmer) Hubble of Fayetteville, PA. She will be sadly missed by five grandchildren: Timothy Eugene Parmer, Michael James Parmer, Amanda Jo Parmer, Lydia Marie Hubble, and Joshua Parmer Hubble. Also, she will be fondly remembered by five great-grand children: Tanner James Mackey, McKennah Marie Parmer, Miley Olivia Parmer, Bryce Owen Vaughn, and Ava Noel Mellott. Furthermore, she is survived by one brother, R. Dean Blubaugh, and his wife Judi M. (Duffey) Blubaugh, of Waynesboro, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Evelyn April Blubaugh, Rosella Alamaye (Blubaugh) Rosenberry, and Esther Irene Blubaugh; four brothers: Daniel Harlan, John R., Teddy Shefford, and Chauncey Everett; and her first grandchild, John David Parmer, II. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at William F. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, where the Rev. Paul Baker will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA.
