Lewis H. Wilson, 82, husband, beloved father, grandfather, and everyone's "Uncle Lew", of Chambersburg, passed away on Sat., Dec. 13, 2014 at Manor Care. He was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Lansdowne, PA, the son of the late William and Elinore Wilson. From Oct. of 1952 to Nov. of 1954, Lew served honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War as a Petty Officer 3rd Class, boiler technician. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, and The China Service Medal. Lew spent many years as a self employed contractor and in 2003, retired from Nitterhouse Concrete Products in Chambersburg. His later years were spent working as the manager of the Chambersburg Knights of Columbus. Lew gave much of his time and skills serving Chambersburg through many organizations. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Assembly #0924, Life member of The American Legion Post #0046, Am Vets Post # 224, VFW post 1599, and a 12 year member of The Elks Club in Chambersburg. In the 1980's, Lew donated his construction skills to The Christian Academy in Brookhaven, PA, where he employed many of the teachers and students during the summer. He became known by all who knew him as "Uncle Lew". In Chambersburg, the habit of helping others continued through the various organizations in which he was affiliated. "Uncle Lew" truly enjoyed serving the community of Chambersburg. He is survived by his wife, Naomi R. Wilson of Glen Mills, PA; his daughter, Jennifer D. Bishop of Oxford, PA; granddaughter, Emily W. Bishop; grandson, Tyler S. Bishop; and sisters Elinore (Husband Joe) Wynne of Cumming, Georgia and Dolores( Husband Arthur) Carlen of Zephyr Hills, Florida. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Bell Wilson of Media, PA, and William Roy Wilson of Huntington Beach, CA.
