Mary Antoinette Venskus Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Antoinette (Sakalauskas) Venskus passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Shook Home Chambersburg, PA. Mary was born August 30, 1927 in Pittston PA. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Sakalauskas. Mary graduated from Pittston High School. Mary was married to the late John A. Venskus for over 60 years. Mary and John were married on August 04, 1945 at St. Casmir's Church in Pittston, PA. They lived in Inkerman, PA several years, then moved to Chambersburg, PA, and then moved to St. Thomas, PA where they lived for over 60 years. Mary was employed at Fulton Knit, Tracy Fashions, and Butte Knit retiring in September 1982. Mary was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church for over 60 years where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also taught Bible School at South Mountain. Mary had a heart of gold, helping anyone in whatever capacity she could. Mary and John spent a lot of their retirement years traveling to different areas of the country. Mary was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles watching every televised game. Mary enjoyed her cats, always saying "they are all God's creatures." Surviving are her son John M. Venskus (Linda) and daughter Rosemary Smith (Michael); Grandchildren: Mary Black (Doran), John W. Venskus, Sharon Stake (JJ), Matthew Smith, Amanda Smith; Great grandchildren: Ashley Peterson (Dusty), Haile Stake, Brittany Black, and Matthew Black, Sabella Smith, and Simon Smith; Great-great grandchildren: twins; Beau and Avery Peterson. Mary was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph (Pearl) Sakalauskas, Alfred (Carmilla) Sakalauskas and a sister Frances Sakalauskas. Surviving is a sister-in-law Dolores Dubitsky and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201. The family will receive friends at Sellers Funeral Home on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 8:30 -9:30 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be conducted at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery following the mass.
