    Rosalie  D. "Bucky" Bowers (Brewer)

    March 17, 1925 - October 19, 2017

Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother-Rosalie D. "Bucky" Bowers, 92, ran to the open arms of Jesus at 12 p.m. on October 19, 2017 surrounded by loving family . Waiting to greet her were her husband, Dick “Pappy”, grandson, John, dog, Sugar Foot and cat, Gracie. Bucky was an exceptional woman in that when other women stayed home, she worked to make a better life for her family. Her true joy in life was raising her family, being part of their lives, and praising God for all she was given in life. To anyone who knew her, she always took time to talk, lend an ear or give a helping hand. Born March 17, 1925 in Hagerstown Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas S. and Louella (Downin) Brewer. A 1943 graduate of Hagerstown H. S. and 1946 graduate of Washington County School of Nursing; Bucky worked for the Chambersburg Hospital from 1950-1982, retiring as the Supervisor of Specialty Units and was most proud of being able to open the first Cardiac Care Unit in the hospital. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church; a former member of: Burt J. Asper Post#46 Aux., Charles Nitterhouse Post #1599 Aux., Alumni Assoc. of Washington Co. Hospital, School of Nursing, Chambersburg Hospital Aux., Board of Directors of Shook Home, AARP 2840 Falling Spring Chapter, as well as being a volunteer for: ARC, Meals on Wheels and the American National Red Cross. She is survived by her four children: Deborah A. Zullinger (David), Nancy A. Probst (James), David E. Bowers (Kelly), Myron R. Bowers II (Mindy) all of Chambersburg ; five grandchildren: Stephanie and Matthew Zullinger, Aaron (Amy) and Christian Probst, Caleb Bowers; four great grandchildren Alexander, Mae-Leigha, Avalyn Zullinger, Maddox Probst, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends she lovingly called her family. Her absence will be greatly felt by all who loved her. A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary from 7:30 -8pm on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Sellers Funeral Home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Chambersburg Hospital Endowment Fund, 785 5th Avenue or Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave, both of Chambersburg, PA 17201.
