Sara Drenchko,96, passed away November 8, 2021 at Shook Home and The Quarters. She was born September 23, 1925 in Johnstown, the daughter of the Sara and David Barkhymer. Sara met her husband, Joseph, at a roller skating rink in 1946, married him on Jan. 15 1949 and they had four children. For over 70 years, Sara attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church where she belonged to The Legion of Mary. After graduating in 1944 from Johnstown High School, she worked as a seamstress and store clerk. Sara enjoyed sewing, tatting, embroidery, gardening, just staying home and enjoying her family. She enjoyed animals and always had one or two pets in her household. Sara had a knack for making others always feel at home with her, never forgot a birthday and had a calming sense to her. She was quiet, but had inner strength that helped her throughout her life including growing up in the depression and surviving the 1936 Johnstown flood. Surviving are her four children: Kathleen Miller, Sara (Jeffrey) Kovach, Mary (Carl) Patterson, Joseph (Pamela-deceased) Drenchko; four grandchildren: Charles (Kristy) Miller, Rose (Michael) Allen, Sara Marie Patterson, Stephen Kovach (deceased) and four great grandchildren: Mikayla Miller, Ethan Miller, Gabriel Allen, Elena Allen, a foster granddaughter, Doris Bachman and her sons, Justin Henry and Corey Bachman. In addition to her parents and husband, Joseph Drenchko, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Prudence Bayletts, Margaret Kull, James Barkymer and David Barkymer. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Corpus Christi Church. There will be a visitation from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Sellers Funeral Home prior to the service at the church.
