William Earl Fluke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William E. Fluke, 93, of Upper Strasburg passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital. He was born September 12, 1923 in Hopewell PA, the son of the late Lamont and Barbara (Hoover) Fluke. He graduated from Altoona H.S., attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church of Newburg was a Boy Scout leader and a member of the Newburg and Orrstown Masonic Lodges. Bill served his country as a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps. In 1974, he retired from Letterkenny Army Depot. He and his wife, Betty, opened a gas station and grocery store where he earned the nickname “Sunoco Bill”. After they closed the store, he worked at a tin shop, soldering crafts for shows. It wasn’t until his late 70’s that Bill actually retired. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. (Keefer) Fluke, Upper Strasburg, a daughter and two sons: William and wife Debra, of Upper Strasburg; Debra and husband “Al” of Fayetteville and Larry E. Keefer and wife Rhonda of St. Thomas. The Funeral will be held at the convenience of the family.
