A. Marlene Arrison

A. Marlene Arrison, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in Gainsville, Fl. She was born November 9, 1942 in Waynesboro, PA, the daughter of the late Melvin and Hazel Monighan. Marlene graduated from CASHS, class of 1960 and enjoyed spending time with her classmates at their monthly class reunions. She attended Medical Secretarial School in Md., then accepted a position at Letterkenny Army Depot as a civil Servant in Admin. She then moved to Severn, Md where she and Jack both worked at Ft. Meade, followed by the Treasury Dept., Dept of Energy and the Coast Guard. After retiring from the government, she worked at Long and Foster in Chambersburg. Marlene was a member of Zion Church of Christ, Penn National Lion's Club, Cumberland Valley Travelers (CVT), the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post #46, the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599, the Amvets Post # 224, the H.O.G.S., her local Community Association (STING) in MD and the Md "Save our Streams". The "Crazy Dog" lady loved animals and helped in every way she could; especially with the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter; which she supported not only with donations, but with adoption. Marlene and Jack were both car nuts and loved to go to cars shows. Some of her favorite activities included traveling with Jack, to Florida and Myrtle Beach, catching up with friends in all their travels, participating in church functions and shopping. She believed in supporting the veterans and actively did so by contributing to: Wounded Warriors, Paralyzed Veterans, Folds of Honor and Tunnels to Towers. Marlene had a strong faith and prayed often and faithfully for others. She was a beautiful person, outgoing and compassionate. Her beautiful smile could change how you felt and your outlook on the world. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack Arrison, daughter, Sheri (Meck) Arrison, two brother in laws, Jerry and Jay Arrison and a cousin, Lois "Skip" Picking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother in law, Frank (Jim) Arrison. Her Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M.. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Zion Church of Christ, 259 S Main St, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with the Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd W, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or any organization supporting our local Veterans.
