LuWanda Grace Mumma

LuWanda Grace (nee' Romig) Mumma February 21, 1932-November 29, 2024. We have lost the most precious, loving mother any two daughters could ever be blessed to have. Our hearts are broken and now we have to figure out how to fill this empty space where she once stood? Mom felt it was time to go home and we knew we had to let her go. LuWanda was married to Harry Robert McCurdy Mumma who passed in 2017. They had been married for 64 years. Also preceding her in death were grandson, Kirk Kegerreis, and parents, Robert & Bessie Romig. "Sis" was born in Wells Tannery, PA in Fulton County, the second child of three, she was bookended by two very protective brothers, William and Ted Romig, both preceded her in death. She leaves behind daughters Virginia Kegerreis, husband Roger and Roberta Lawyer. Granddaughter, Kellie Kegerreis, husband Robert Friebus and Grandson, Brian Lawyer, wife Josephea. Four great grandchildren: Marisa Ball, husband Caleb, Kortney Zapp, husband Michael, Allyson Tovar, fiancé Gilbert Dennis, Pauline & soon to be Baby Benjamin Lawyer; and four great-great grandchildren: Adalee & Elijah Ball and James & Jacob Zapp; in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. LuWanda was a 50+ year member of Eastern Star and Amaranths. She often enjoyed worshipping at Grace Brethern Church, Chambersburg, Salem Church, Waynesboro and Whesley Chapel, Blue Ridge Summitt. LuWanda enjoyed bowling for 50+ years until this past spring, deciding it was time to hang up her bowling ball at the age of 92, she donated her ball to another avid bowler to enjoy. On Thursdays she'd drive to the Chambersburg Senior Center to play cards with friends. She baked bread, sticky buns and was well known for her homemade pies, sewed quilts the old fashioned way with thread, thimble and needle in hand, and made lap quilts to donate to the local Nursing Homes. On sunny days, you would no doubt find her hanging laundry out to dry on the clothes line in her backyard. In earlier times, she enjoyed camping and square dancing with her husband Harry and close friends and relatives. There will be no viewing. Burial will be private. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider volunteering to ring the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Bells at Christmas time in LuWanda's memory or make a monetary donation to the local Chambersburg Salvation Army, 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17201. LuWanda "Sis" will be deeply missed. She's flying with the angels now.
